“Intervene or stand back – what should be the industrial strategy for the UK?”
This was the topic of a debate organised by The Foundation for Science and Technology at the Royal Society. The three invited speakers were Sir John Parker, President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Right Honourable David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science, and Professor Alan Hughes, Director of the Centre for Business Research (CBR).
An audience of around 140 guests were invited with a background from business, parliament, Whitehall officials, the research community and guests with a special interest in the theme of the debate.
