Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Dr Uday Phadke, to speak at R&D Society/Knowledge Transfer Network event on 29 April.
Dr Uday Phadke, CEO of Cartezia and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Cambridge Judge Business School, is one of the guest panellists at the Research & Development Society event Creating a strategic and sustainable vision for UK R&D which is looking at the infrastructure needed to support a world-class innovation ecosystem in the UK and also aiming to increase the understanding of national R&D priorities around knowledge transfer, skills supply and competitiveness for effective and sustainable innovation.
Uday will be presenting a model based on 30 years of experience from the Cambridge Innovation Cluster, which questions some of the fashionable assumptions about what it takes to succeed. This will include the role of venture capital, tax structures and funding for research and development.
He said:
Everybody from policy-makers to business leaders agrees that harnessing technology is the key to commercial success – both at corporate and national level – but the real drivers of this change are less well understood.
Uday has spent the last 30 years working actively on science and technology enabled innovation. During this period he has worked with a wide range of companies and technologies, providing guidance on strategy, business plans and the synthesis of new products, as an advisor, investor, and in hands-on operational roles. He currently divides his time between Cartezia, which builds technology companies and AcceleratorIndia, which focuses on cross-border innovation and business building. He’s actively involved in the Cambridge technology commercialisation ecosystem and is a regular contributor to the Ignite programme for tech entrepreneurs delivered by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at Cambridge Judge Business School.
He will join a distinguished panel including Will Hutton, political economist, writer and journalist chair of the Big Innovation Centre; Principal of Hertford College, Oxford; and Dr Hermann Hauser, KBE Director of Amadeus Capital Partners and Visiting Entrepreneur at Cambridge Judge Business School.
The event is being organised by the Research and Development Society with the Knowledge Transfer Network, and supported by Lucideon.
