Pod Point, a company that supplies electric-car charging points that was co-founded by the CEO of Cambridge Judge’s Executive Education programme and an alumnus of the school’s Ignite programme for entrepreneurship, was named as one of the UK’s fastest-growing private technology companies by The Sunday Times Tech Track 100.
The company, 86th in the Tech Track table, was founded in 2009 by Peter Hiscocks, CEO of Executive Education and Senior Faculty in Management Practice at Cambridge Judge, along with Erik Fairbairn, who took part in the Ignite programme in 2001.
The Tech Track 100 ranks Britain’s private tech companies with the fastest-growing sales over the past three years. According to the Sunday Times article, London-based POD Point has had 46 per cent average growth over the past three years, will have 2015 sales of £6.5 million and employs 50 people. Last March it raised £1.5 million through crowdfunding.
The company has so far sold more than 20,000 electric car-charging units, which it installs in businesses, homes and public spaces. The Sunday Times article said it is “widely predicted” that by 2020 about 20 per cent of new cars in Britain will be electric.
