Executive MBA participant Paul Crouch appointed as Finance Director for service platforms at BT.
Congratulations to Paul Crouch (EMBA 2015), who was appointed to his new role following his graduation from Cambridge Judge Business School in May 2017.
Paul now leads the Finance Team responsible for BT’s mobile, voice, broadband and TV platforms. “Some of the key areas I will be working on include the successful commercial implementation of 5G, a strategic review of the TV platform and fixed-mobile convergence.”
Paul joined BT in 2002 as a graduate, and developed his career in its Procurement division before deciding that his future lay in a different area of the business. “Whilst I had reached a high level in my profession, Procurement is just one of many functions. If I didn’t change direction I would be doing Procurement for the rest of my career.”
BT recognised Paul’s desire for a new role within the organisation, and sponsored his Executive MBA studies at Cambridge Judge Business School. “BT fully sponsored my EMBA, because they saw it as a credible qualification from a quality institution, which gave them confidence in me. Our agreement was that BT would invest in my studies, and at the end of it I would take on a different job outside of Procurement.”
Paul feels as though the subject matter of the EMBA prepared him well for his new position, particularly given his new responsibilities. “The EMBA played a crucial role in my new appointment, not just learning from the practical subjects like Accounting and Corporate Finance but also modules that developed softer skills such as Organisation Behaviour and Management Praxis.”
Paul began his new role in July 2017.
