Cambridge Judge Business School faculty members Professor Stefan Scholtes and Dr Robert Wardrop are named recipients of the 2021 Sandra Dawson Research Impact Award.
Two faculty members Professor Stefan Scholtes and Dr Robert Wardrop have been named recipients of the 2021 Sandra Dawson Research Impact Award for leading research teams that created clear impact on non-academic organisations.
The annual Cambridge Judge Research Impact Award was established through a generous donation from Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, a former Director of Cambridge Judge. Winners are chosen based on reach (the extent and diversity of the organisations which have benefited from the research) and significance (the degree to which the impact has influenced or changed the policies, opportunities, perspectives or practice of non-academic organisations).
The recipients were announced by Cambridge Judge Dean Christoph Loch on 14 June, who cited their roles as “catalysts of groups of people doing something worthwhile for the Business School.”
Stefan Scholtes, Dennis Gillings Professor of Health Management, was cited for leading research through the Centre for Health Leadership & Enterprise that helped East of England hospitals make capacity-planning predictions during the COVID-19 crisis. “This has really made a very real impact in the ability of hospitals to cope,” Christoph said.
Robert Wardrop, Faculty (Professor level) in Management Practice and Director of the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, was cited for work on the Regulatory Genome Project, which uses artificial intelligence to allow regulators and others to compare complex sets of financial regulation. The project “allows benchmarking on a highly systematic scale,” Christoph said.
