How important is networking and the development of social capital to the entrepreneur and how does it influence the success of ventures and start-ups? How do aspiring and inexperienced entrepreneurs go about building the right connections? Can it be taught online? These are the questions we’ll be debating with an astute panel of experts on 19th November at the Google Campus in London.
Elizabeth Varley (pictured) is co-founder and CEO of TechHub and also heads up Twestival London. She will talk about her experiences with TechHub and her approach to fostering communities. Jack Lang is a serial entrepreneur, business angel and co-founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation which developed the credit-card sized single computer board with the intention of stimulating the teaching of basic computer science in schools. He will focus on the role of networks in Cambridge in making it happen. Frank Roche is Senior Director and Innovation Project Lead at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and an alumnus of our Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship programme. Frank will tell us about how his enterprise project has developed within GSK and the role the programme played.
This event also kicks off a series of Roadshows showcasing our Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship programme which is largely taught online with designated tutors and mentors. We’ll look at how students learn via the online learning environment and how this supports the development of personal networks.
