Professional history

Mr Gentin is McKinsey’s Chief Legal Officer and leads the global Legal and Public Affairs functions.  He is a member of the firm’s management team and the first non-consultant elected a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s history. Mr Gentin was a partner in the law firm Cahill Gordon & Reindel and a managing director at financial services firm Credit Suisse. He also served in the United States Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Mr Gentin holds an AB from Princeton University and a JD from Columbia University.

Society and charity work

Mr Gentin is a member of the advisory board of Princeton University’s Center for Public Policy and Finance. He has served as Trustee of the Practising Law Institute and of Columbia Law School’s Center for Israeli Legal Studies. Mr Gentin previously chaired the board of Princeton University’s Center for Jewish Life. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s chief legal officer community, served on many of the WEF’s Global Agenda Councils, and was a WEF Young Global Leader.

Mr Gentin will be Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School in the 2024 autumn semester. He has previously served as Leader in Residence at Columbia Law School, Summer Lecturer at Tel Aviv University, Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University, and Lecturer in Ethics at the Wharton School of Business. He co-edited a book on alternative dispute resolution in the financial services sector, and during the COVID lockdown, taught a virtual course exploring the relationship between American poetry, religious thought, and blues music.
