Future areas of focus
The Centre will begin seeding research projects and developing educational capacity in three areas. In summary, these are technology in banking and insurance, technology in payments, and technology in wealth management.
Learning from the digital overhauls and the emergence of platforms in other service industries, such as communication, hospitality, retail sales, and entertainment, it is likely that in the near future both how financial services are supplied and who supplies them will be different.
Financial services are increasingly being demanded in digital form. With the relentless power of Moore’s Law, critical financial decisions are being delegated to algorithms. These are quickly becoming better and cheaper processors of information compared to humans.
