Ilyas Khan founded Cambridge Quantum in 2014 and was the founding CEO of Quantinuum, the company created as a result of the merger of Honeywell Quantum Solutions and Cambridge Quantum. As well as being Vice-Chairman of the board of directors, he is also the Chief Product Officer of Quantinuum and part of the executive leadership team of the company. Quantinuum is one of the UK’s most successful deep science startups.
He was appointed Leader in Residence at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge where he was instrumental in establishing the highly regarded Accelerate Cambridge programmme of investment in early-stage Cambridge-based deep-science technology sector companies. More recently Ilyas was appointed as an Honorary Ambassador to Cambridge Judge Business School.
Ilyas was the inaugural Chairman of The Stephen Hawking Foundation, holding the post until 2019. He is also the founding Chairman (non-executive) of the Topos Institute. He is also a fellow of St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. Ilyas is recognised as one of the founders and leading voices in the quantum computing industry globally and is an active researcher in explainable Ai as well as the impact of quantum circuits on human language.
