Kamal Munir, Reader in Strategy and Policy at Cambridge Judge Business School, has been selected as an Equality Champion at the University of Cambridge. Kamal is a Race & Inclusion Champion at the University.
Kamal is one of five equality champions at the University, whose roles include liaising with staff and student diversity networks, advocating for individual students and staff, and representing protected groups by acting as their voice in University governance. The champions also have a role to “challenge the University” by providing leadership to increase inclusivity across the University.
Kamal’s research often focuses on the stubborn persistence of inequality and its effect on the institutions of society. He describes inequality as “one of the biggest problems of our time, threatening our social fabric, political system and democracy.”
The other four equality champions are University of Cambridge academics in chemistry, German, sociology and physics. Besides race and inclusion, the equality champions focus on disability and well-being, and gender equality.
