Founding team

Austin Reed

Austin is a current PhD student in Bioinformatics at the University of Cambridge. Originally from Australia, he moved to Cambridge in 2018 to start his undergraduate degree in Mathematics. With a strong interest in Biology, he now applies his computational skillset to breast cancer biology. Most recently, he drove the Human Breast Cell Atlas analysis under joint supervision of the Khaled and Marioni groups. Concurrently, he is studying the effects of age and parity on the mammary gland alongside BRCA1 loss of function and the resulting aberrant differentiation that ensues. Outside of the department for Pharmacology, he enjoys playing Australian football or climbing with friends.

Maylin Stanic

Maylin is an experienced management consultant at Ernst & Young in London, specialising in Leadership, Culture, and Team Development. She is originally from Berlin, Germany, where she was swimming competitively on a national level. She spent her time as an undergraduate and postgraduate student in The Netherlands, China, and Italy, studying Business and Business Psychology. In 2019, she moved to London to start her PhD journey, which combined her passion for sport with her background in business psychology. In more detail, she investigated elite athletes’ perception of effective and ineffective leadership. She now wants to use her knowledge and skillset to build a venture with an impact on society and has therefore teamed up with Austin and Walid to make cancer prevention therapeutics a reality.
