Peter is a medtech start-up working on a device that will allow millions of Parkinson’s Disease sufferers to walk with freedom, control and confidence again. Born from a university project initially invented to improve the life of the founder’s father, Peter, we aim to improve the lives of all Parkinson’s users globally.
While Parkinson’s is notorious for its debilitating shakes and tremors, Freezing of Gait is one of its most draining and lesser-known symptoms. Causing users’ legs to become randomly stuck when walking and ‘gluing’ their foot to the floor, freezing episodes are a sudden, unpredictable and frightening experience that leads to falls and long-term injuries.
Frustrated with the current market options that are stigmatising, expensive and inaccessible, we aim to improve the quality of life for everyone with Parkinson’s. Peter solves this problem through preventing freezing in a discrete manner, improving the lives for existing Parkinson’s users and ensuring a higher quality of life and independence.
